The Business Model

Being an honesty box sweet agent involves distributing boxes of 16 or 30 bags of sweets, which are branded as NSPCC ChildLine to a variety of different premises, and going back to collect the empty boxes when all the sweets have been munched.

You will buy your own stock, therefore making a profit on the sales you generate from distributing the honesty boxes. Working on a self-employed basis as your own boss.

A minimum donation of £25,000 will be made from Hurley's high-quality sweets to NSPCC ChildLine each year. The more sales you make, the more profit you can make for yourself, or you can donate even more to ChildLine if you wish.

About NSPCC ChildLine

ChildLine is a service provided and funded by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). NSPCC registered charity numbers 216401 and SC037717

ChildLine is the UK’s free, confidential helpline dedicated to children and young people.

At ChildLine bases around the UK, trained volunteers are on hand to provide advice and support 24 hours a day. Children can get in touch in by phone or online, whichever makes them feel most comfortable and in control.

The ChildLine website also features advice, creative tools, videos and games to help children express how they feel and give them the confidence to speak out. Information and support is also available by text on range of issues.

Set Up Cost

In order to start up your business you will need to initially purchase a set of boxes plus a stock of sweets. The initial outlay costs are as low as £3,500 (including VAT) which will give you enough to cover 300 customers and start to generate income from week two.

You will be your own boss, we do NOT charge any ongoing management or franchises fees.

Types of Calls

As this is your own business it is up to you where you leave the honesty boxes. You will be allocated an area which will be based on postcodes and population, on the basis that you only leave your sweet boxes in those areas.

You can leave them in leisure centres, shops, restaurants, pubs, bowling alleys, swimming pools, large offices. Anywhere people will see the opportunity to enjoy a sweet treat and donate money to supporting Britain's children.

Self-Employed

As you will set this up as your own business, you need to bear in mind that you will be responsible for all your own tax and national insurance contributions, therefore the advice of an accountant should be sought if you have not worked in this way before.

Potential Income

Dependant on the development of your customer base, we expect you will earn in excess of £35,000 per annum.
